Self-awareness and stress control
Emotions are fundamental attitudes in life. Genetic inheritance provides us with various emotional qualities that influence our temperament. Nonetheless, we must keep in mind that the brain circuits involved are extraordinarily plastic and therefore, we know that temperament is not fate!
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
- Knowing how to make conscious and rational choices: observing yourself and recognizing your feelings; understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings and reactions.
- Deciding by examining one's own actions and knowing the consequences; knowing how to recognize whether a decision is dictated by thought or by feeling.
- Manage stress by learning the value of exercise and relaxation methods.
WHY IT'S INTERESTING
This laboratory provides a pragmatic and intuitive dialogue on the relationship between neural functions and emotions, allowing students to progressively improve their emotional life. It also shows how, from a motor point of view, various breathing techniques useful in situations with a high level of stress, such as study and exams, work or family conflicts, can be put into practice.

The value of multiculturalism
Multiculturalism, or interculturality, initially referred only to major racial groups, but now the definition is much broader. Culture, like air, is everywhere and essential to our being. It has multiple facets that affect our view of the world and sometimes make us feel different or distant.
But in reality there is a lot to learn mainly thanks to our differences!
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
- Understand the meaning of cultural identity, and understand how family and cultural background affect who we are.
- Describe the diversity of students in the class. Discuss how this diversity can enrich the group and the learning.
- Evaluate the impact that cultural pluralism can have on ourselves and on society.
WHY IT'S INTERESTING
This workshop teaches the key role of "cultural intelligence" which allows us to understand the value of diversity and provides alternative tools to stereotypes. But above all, it teaches how to shape one's own cultural identity, which is essential in the exchange between cultures, and to improve the quality of our interactions in Italy, abroad and on online platforms.

Denuclearization and disarmament
Nuclear weapons made headlines throughout the second half of the 20th century.
After the massacres of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the intense nuclear arms race by Eastern and Western countries was followed by a unilateral desire for nuclear downsizing during the 1990s. To date there are still 9 countries in possession of nuclear warheads, and the conversation about disarmament still plays a fundamental role in our lives.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
- Understand what a nuclear weapon is, its characteristics and the effects of its use and testing.
- Know the history and events that led to global proliferation up to today's distribution, including the regulations and treaties that regulate or prohibit its possession.
- Understand the importance of disarmament processes and future prospects for building a culture of peace.
WHY IT'S INTERESTING
During the laboratory, in addition to the theoretical aspects, students can listen to the testimony of those who have been studying, researching and working in the field of diplomacy for years to promote the adhesion and implementation of the historic United Nations Treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons of 2017 They therefore understand the importance of the work of many people towards a common goal: the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Data science and artificial intelligence
Research studies and analyzes the world we live in to improve our quality of life.
Thanks to technology, computational sciences, including data science, have started to play an increasingly important role in different research fields. Through the use of artificial intelligence, research can also be done in areas that you would not expect, including physics and psychology.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
- Understand the foundations that structure scientific research in different fields, and how computation is applied in research.
- Being able to answer questions such as: why do we analyze data?; what tools are used?; what are the limits of science today and the future objectives?.
- Answering a research question by observing the instructions given to the computer to perform the calculations.
WHY IT'S INTERESTING
This workshop offers students a very useful perspective on the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence. In fact, it promotes the learning of STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), under an innovative and current perspective that extends their range of application to various fields of research.
